To many Nigerians, Port Harcourt needs no introduction
But to the benefit of the few who have not visited nor have an idea of what this town looks like
I will attempt to paint a word picture
Okay here goes;
The city is in Rivers State, South-South Nigeria. Being the state capital Port Harcourt surely lives up to the name “Rivers”
Littered around the town is an unending network of water bodies creating a beautiful scenery if you are looking down on the town from an aircraft window
If you are driving or in a bus entering from the east-west road, your first encounter with the town would be; Choba where UNIPORT is located,
Choba has all the characteristics of any university area with the major road running through the area, it’s a beehive of activity.
Port Harcourt roads are quite interlinked (with a few exceptions) there are always several options of getting to your destination, Driving through the town though needs an exceptional level of care
as if you are used to driving in Lagos, Abuja, and Calabar it may surprise you how driving is in Port Harcourt especially the town cabs, brace yourself for some interesting time.
For those who love seafood, it is in abundance in Port Harcourt. Most of the markets have many traders of fresh seafood, straight from the waters for those mouth-watering dishes you may want to prepare
There are several relaxation spots and luxury hotels of international standard in the town, several malls, cinemas and recreational parks.
The town has a high population of people with disposable income, so get ready to pay top naira for some items, All in all, it’s a great place to live.
Now back to the matter of the day; top areas to live in Port Harcourt.
- New GRA: This the area for the crème de la crème of Port Harcourt, Here you have a neighborhood of Government officials and affluent persons. Properties here are sinfully pricey and would set you back some hundred million. PH POLO CLUB, Genesis Deluxe Cinema, classy event centers, nightclubs and departmental stores are located in this area.
- OLD GRA: This was the area inhabited by the early European settlers during the colonial times and was then referred to as European Quarters, the area is well planned. No wonder the past first lady Dame Patience Jonathan chose this area for her Port Harcourt residence. The popular ISAAC BORO PARK, State House of Assembly and NEPAD Rivers State Secretariat are all located here. Serene, beautiful and close to nature with trees and shrubs this area. Properties here are peculiarly expensive.
PETER ODILI ROAD: This is actually my favorite area in Port Harcourt, why? You may ask. Well it’s nothing more than the area has a blend of Well-off individuals and mid-level professionals and has direct access to popular areas such as Trans-Amadi, Amadi, Abuloma, Woji, Slaughter etc, In fact, the area is a “Surulere” of some sorts. It’s almost at the center of the city. You will appreciate the beauty of this area at night. NLNG, Rainbow, and Golf Estate are in this environment. Top schools, eateries, churches, relaxation centers all abound in this area. It’s a fast developing area and will be in a contest with the G.R.As soon. Properties here are fairly priced. It will still set you back some millions though.
- ADA-GEORGE/AGIP: A true family area, with the road dualization, the area suddenly became a fine bride for property investors. It is fast becoming the most sort after locations for residence in Port Harcourt Properties here are also fairly priced
- EAGLE ISLAND: Sandwiched between two rivers, the diobu river, and agip/mgbuodohia river. It’s a calm and serene area. For people who love Islands, well there you go. Properties in this area are fairly priced
The title says Top “5” places to live in Port Harcourt, right?
There is a sixth one.
It was difficult for me to put it on the list above because it can’t be last or first. This place excites me because it is a conscious long-term effort by the government to have a new well-planned city. Soon there will be an old Port Harcourt and New Port Harcourt.
People in the know have bought properties in this area.
The plan for the area is simply breath-taking.
“Tell me the area already,” you say. It’s the Greater Port Harcourt City, this area incorporates the entire Port Harcourt LGA, Oyigbo, Okrika, Ogu-Bolo, Obio-Akpor, Ikwerre, Etche and Eleme Local Government Areas
It’s an open secret that majority of the property owners in the five areas mentioned above and other wise would-be and new landlords have been rushing to secure plots in these areas.
To save them the stress of genuine land ownership verification, approvals and proper title documents they buy their properties through Boing Luxury Estates
Our Firm is pioneering the revolution in the GPHC area, all our premium and luxury estates are located in this region and we have several packages to ensure investors can capture value by purchasing serviced plots within our estates.
If I say the Government Plan for Greater Port Harcourt City is breath-taking, then the Boings Estates Layout Plan (which unlike other real estate providers is already being implemented) is awesome!
Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself here
Till next week,
Keep winning with real estate.
